Y.In this article delineates several type of assessment tools based on the auto-grading and feedback system in the online 3D Compound Virtual Field Trip (3D-CVFT) system developed by us and descript how the assessment proceeding. The short answer question is one of the best ways to check users’ learn effects and the open-ended tasks not only can be formative assessment but seem to be the summative evaluation as well.Item Measuring students' implicit attitudes toward environmental protection(2009-04-21) Chou, T. K.Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) is a methylation enzyme that catalyzes the degradation pathway and inactivates the function of dopamine which has been widely-accepted candidate for modulating dopaminergic physiology and prefrontal cortex function. The COMT Val158Met has been found to be associated with variation of COMT activity that COMT-158Met may advantageous in PFC-related cognitive abilities, however, 158Met may also associate with increased anxiety, depression, and emotional-vulnerable when exposed to stress or educational adversity. We hypothesized that the genetic polymorphism of COMT might associate with academic performance. In this study, 779 healthy Taiwanese 10th volunteers were recruited. Annual national competitive entrance examination (BCT) scores were used to evaluate their academic performance. The results indicated that the Met homozygous carriers exhibited a trend towards impaired performance in all BCT subjects. The finding provides evidence that affective factors might overwhelm cognitive abilities in high-stake tests like the BCT.Item 3D Compound Virtual Field Trip System and its Comparisons with an Actual Field Trip(2009-07-17) Chang, C. Y.; Lin, M. C.; Hsiao, C. H.This article delineates an online 3D compound virtual field trip (3D-CVFT) system developed by us and compares the 3D-CVFT with an actual field trip. Some possible educational implications in terms of the use of virtual reality technology as an alternative to the geological field trip are also discussed.Item Passenger Search Problem and Solutions for Ride Sharing(2009-11-28) Chen, H. H.; Wu, Y. H.; Cho, C. W.; Chang, C. Y.Ride sharing is a way of energy saving and carbon footmark reduction. The current systems or websites still depend on manual ways to couple drivers with passengers. They do not make good use of prevailing map information to well organize the temporal and spatial information in user routes. The paper proposes a payment scheme that encourages people to join the carpool and provides a goal for coupling drivers with passengers. We define and research into the passenger search problem and propose an efficient method that can find good results based on the characteristic between passengers’ routes and the driver’s payments. We also design a method that guarantees to find the optimal solution. Experiment results show that our method can improve the efficiency in computation and make a tradeoff between the quality of answer and the execution time. Our result will help the construction of a more automatic carpool system.
