Abstract
近年美國律政影集蓬勃發展，大眾對於法普知識的興趣也日漸提升，觀看法律題材的戲劇能增進法律知識與認識外國文化。法律題材戲劇涉及專業詞彙，除了娛樂效果外，更應該傳遞正確專業知識，此目的必須仰賴品質精良的字幕翻譯才能達成。美國法律影集富含豐富的法律知識，雖然台灣與美國法律系統分屬不同法系，仍有許多價值、原則、概念相互援引參照，因此從法律影集中不僅可以學到美國法文化，對瞭解台灣法制亦有幫助。字幕翻譯不同於一般文件翻譯，無法加以註記或期待讀者自行查找詞彙意思，翻譯時更需嚴謹查證。本研究透過三部2000年後的美國影集《美女上錯身》（Drop Dead Diva）、《法庭女王》（The Good Wife）、《謀殺入門課》（How to Get away with Murder），觀察涉及法律相關內容的字幕翻譯，從「誤譯」、「專業性」、「翻譯技巧」等面向探討如何增進法律領域用語的精確度，提升法律類影集的字幕品質，讓觀眾從觀影過程中吸收正確的法律知識。
As American legal series increasingly become more popular, the public is getting more interested in legal knowledge through watching courtroom dramas. Taiwanese audience can learn legal knowledge and cultural differences in the courtroom dramas. These dramas involve specific terminology and legal issues, which makes them responsible for providing proper public legal education rather than only focusing on entertainment. Despite the different legal systems of Taiwan and the U.S., Taiwanese audience could acquire legal knowledge through American courtroom dramas since the two legal systems share numerous values and principles of the justice systems. As a result, Taiwanese audience not only learn about American justice system but have a more solid understanding of the justice system of Taiwan. Correct and accurate subtitle translations of legal dramas play a crucial role in raising the public’s legal awareness in Taiwan. Therefore, the aim of this article attempts to explore subtitle translations of three American courtroom dramas aired after 2000, namely Drop Dead Diva, The Good Wife, and How to Get away with Murder. This research focuses on observing and analyzing subtitle translations of these dramas that involve legal terminology and issues and discuss how to improve subtitle translations of courtroom dramas in terms of accuracy.
