Abstract

本研究旨在探討與我國八年級學生科學學習成就最具關聯性的學生特質變項,以及我國學生科學學習成就與學生特質變項相關性的趨勢變化。研究方法以量化為主,質性為輔。量化資料以TIMSS 1999、2003、2007、2011資料庫中的數據,使用描述性統計與皮爾森積差相關進行次級資料分析。質性研究部分,訪談三位科學教師以輔助量化資料分析的結果。 研究結果發現:(一)「學生最高學歷期望」或「家中藏書」是與學生學習成就最相關的學生特質;(二)「家中藏書」與「家中資源」的量有增加的趨勢,「父母最高學歷」在TIMSS 2003顯著較低,「學生最高學歷期望」在TIMSS 2011有下降的趨勢,低分群學生對於學習科學之信心有逐次下降的趨勢,「學生對於科學之評價」有下降的趨勢。 建議未來在TIMSS 的學生問卷中可以增加單位時間內書籍閱讀數量的題目設計。對於我國科學教育,建議教師協助學生增強學生信心、以及對科學的瞭解與評價。
This research was subjected on understanding what student characteristics would affect their science achievements the most to the eighth graders in Taiwan, and explored the trend of the relationship between science achievements and student characteristics. Quantitative data is major and qualitative is minor. In quantitative data, we analyzed the data from TIMSS 1999、2003、2007 and 2011. Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation were used to conduct the results . In qualitative data, we interviewed three science Teachers. In this study, The major findings of this research were described as follows: (1) the highest correlation variable with scientific achievement was “self expected level of education” or “books in student’s home”;(2) There was an increasing trend in student characteristics of “books in student’s home” and “home resources”, “the parent’s highest level of education” was significantly lower in TIMSS 2003, “self expected level of education” in TIMSS 2001 showed an downward trend , “Students' Self-Confidence in Learning Science” of low-scoring group of students showed an downward trend , “Students' Valuing Science” showed an downward trend. There were several suggestions after this research that may offer to current and future education systems and researchers. The proposed increase “reading amount per unit of time duration” into student questionnaires. Teachers should help to enhance students’ self-confidence and positive evaluation toward science.
