Abstract
This thesis investigates the interindustry linkage effects of the sports services industry using the input-output model. The purpose of this study includes understanding the characteristics and current conditions of Taiwan’s sports services industry, and estimating the input-output structures of different sports services industries, their forward linkage effects (sensibility,) and backward linkage effects (dispersion.) This study took as its basic data from the “Transactions Table at Producers’ Prices” in the Input-Output Table of 2011, published by Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, Executive Yuan in 2015; and according to the Sports Industry Development Act (Sports Administration, Ministry of Education,) which classifies the sports services industry into 12 sections, together with the data from the Standard Industrial Classification System of the Republic of China (Rev. 9, 2011) and the Industry, Commerce and Service Census, this study acquired the input-output transactions table of 31 sectors in actual operation. The research results indicate that the sport services industry pertains to the labor-intensive industry. The outputs from sports administrative services, sports performances, professional sports, stadium operators and sports information publishing serve mainly as intermediate inputs. Those from health care for sports, educational services for leisure sports, sports wagering, rental of sports products or equipment, sports tourism, sports media, wholesalers and retailers of sports products or equipment are mostly for final consumption. Amongst these twelve, sports performances and sports administrative services play the role of leading-industry that can readily drive the development of upstream industries; the other ten are industries with low linkage effect, whose influence on the development of upstream and downstream industries is insignificant.
