| zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | In 1895, Taiwan entered the period of Japanese rule. After the Japanese colonial government established, many Japanese were keenly aware of the opportunities to expand into new territories and came to Taiwan one after another. These Japanese who lived in Taiwan got the visible and invisible privileges granted by the Government-General of Taiwan (Taiwan Sōtokufu), and started their own businesses in Taiwan through the network of Japanese. The subject of this article-Kondo family, came to Taiwan in 1895, and sold various daily food products to the Japanese. In this way, the Kondo Company gradually expanded its business and continued to develop in Taiwan until 1945, when the Empire of Japan defeated by the Allies in the World WarⅡ.Among the business items of the Kondo family, sake is the most representative and the main profit of the Company. Before the implementation of the liquor monopoly by the Taiwan Governor's Office, the Kondo Company took the volatility of the overall sake market and its future development into account, then agreed with the brewers, ordered the sake product and shipped the goods to Taiwan. At the same time, the Kondo Company focused on expanding its presence in Taiwan to make more profits by introducing different sizes of sake to meet consumer demand and by using various marketing techniques to increase the awareness of the Kondo Company and the sake product sold by the Company. With the above business model, the Kondo Company has achieved remarkable results in the sake business. However, after the implementation of the liquor monopoly system, the Kondo Company changed its business model to a three-way trade between the Monopoly Bureau, the Kondo Company, and sake brewers. In this change, the Kondo Company was incorporated into the framework of the colonial system and was given a certain amount of protection for the sake trade, but at the same time, this framework also became a restriction on the business and profitability of the Company. | en_US |
