Abstract
本論文共分六章,以筆者翻譯《英語教學法大全》(Techniques and Principles in Language Teaching)一書的經驗為基礎,探討英語教學類書籍之相關翻譯議題。第一章「緒論」說明本書之翻譯緣由,以及本論文之研究動機與架構。第二章「以英語教學為目的之翻譯」探討英語教學類書籍的分類、不同類別的翻譯策略、常見問題與可行之解決方法。第三章「《英語教學法大全》一書之翻譯」分別介紹本書內容、筆者翻譯本書時所採取之翻譯策略、遭遇之問題以及解決方式。除了譯者之外,編輯人員對於決定翻譯走向也扮演了關鍵性的角色,因此本文第四章「《英語教學法大全》之編輯策略」探討的是翻譯後的編輯流程、編輯策略與審稿策略。最後,筆者同時身為翻譯人員與英文教師,翻譯本書後對自身教學所產生的影響,將於第五章「《英語教學法大全》對譯者的教學啟發」中分享。第六章筆者簡述前文的各項重要議題,並總結全文。
The object of this thesis is to illustrate common strategies and deficiencies normally presented in the translated copies of books written for the purpose of English teaching. The first chapter states the motives for and the structure of the thesis. The second chapter categorizes books written for the purpose of English teaching and thereby demonstrates prevalent problems and feasible solutions for translations in this field. The third chapter depicts the general notions of the book “Techniques and Principles in Language Teaching” and the experiences of the author in the process of translating this book, including the principles and techniques adopted and the problems encountered. Due to the profound impact of editors on translation works, chapter four describes regular procedures for editors to examine translations and their standards and principles for the evaluation and correction of the work. Being a translator as well as a teacher, the author shares some of her thoughts inspired by this book along with some changes brought about in her teaching actions in chapter five. The last chapter summarizes the major issues stated in the previous chapters and concludes this thesis.
