哲學翻譯與翻譯哲學 - 以《阿多諾 - 批判式導讀》的中譯為例

Abstract

本篇譯評《哲學翻譯與翻譯哲學》如其題目所示，可概分為兩大主軸。其中「哲學翻譯」涵蓋的是本書翻譯的實務過程當中所經歷的種種探索，進一步來說這些探索又可分為兩部分，分別在第二章與第三章有所交代，其中第二章所關注的是「哲學術語」的翻譯，這部分對本書翻譯過程中所遭遇到的哲學名詞進行討論，並說明決定採用書中譯法之理由，該章先對名詞翻譯的基本原則加以介紹，然後再就書中所出現的若干重要哲學語彙之翻譯進行檢討與建議。 第三章之對哲學書籍譯文上經常需要面對的困難句構加以討論，主要的焦點放在哲學文本之解讀與哲學性書寫特有結構之分析與掌握，須知中英文在翻譯所關心的句法上多有歧異處，需要譯者在處理上特別謹慎；在安排上，本章先介紹中英文句構的基本差異，然後再針對這些差異就本書的翻譯進行探討。 相對於第二、三章作為「哲學翻譯」的討論，本論文第四、五章乃用以討論「翻譯哲學」；首先第四章將先簡述阿多諾之生平與重要學術產出，然後從「辯證」的流變來引出阿多諾思想中核心的「非同一性」、「否定辯證」與「星座排列」等主張，進而就書中的內容作一介紹；以第四章為基礎，本論文於第五章就阿多諾哲學思想中可以應用在翻譯理論思考上的部份加以討論，主要是以哲學觀點如何將「信」、「雅」、「達」重新解讀為如何再製內容、理解形式、注入生命，以及翻譯究竟性屬科學還是藝術。 本論文的研究主軸環繞在哲學與翻譯之間的聯繫：翻譯如何為哲學服務，而哲學又如何協助譯者思考，力求本書的翻譯能對哲學閱讀與翻譯理論兩方領域作出最大的貢獻。The thesis, as its title goes, straddles between the discussions of two themes, which are the philosophical translation and the translational philosophy. Specifically, the discussion of the philosophical transition, using the translation of Adorno: Critical Introduction as an example and comprising the second and the third chapters, centers on the practical problems encountered in the course of translating the book in question. The second chapter is devoted to the translation of philosophy terminology while the third chapter considers the translation of philosophical texts at the syntactical level. The fourth and the fifth chapters, under the common theme of translational philosophy, firstly discuss Adorno as a sociologist, an aesthetics theorist, and as a philosopher and then apply Adorno’s thought to the metaphysical breakdown of translation. Overall, the thesis is first and foremost concerned about the connection and the interaction of philosophy and translation.
