Abstract
A Study on the Leisure Need, Leisure Participation and Leisure Satisfaction of Teachers in Technology Colleges in Northern Taiwan Abstract 2006-06 Author:Gen-Beu Sun Advisor:Wen-Tseng Chu The purpose of this study was to explore the social status and the differences of the leisure need, leisure participation and leisure satisfaction of teachers in technology colleges in northern Taiwan under different variances, and their correlation. Questionnaire survey was used in this study, and the targets studied were the teachers in 28 public and private technology universities and colleges in northern Taiwan. With stratified random sampling, 400 copies of questionnaire were distributed, and 363 copies were recollected. The availability was 90.8%. The collected data was analyzed with item analysis, descriptive statistic, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation. The following conclusions are deducted from the outcome of the research: 1. Among the surveyed teachers, health need was highly emphasized on leisure need; audio-video activities were the most frequent activity in the status quo of leisure participation, and the relaxation after leisure activities got the highest satisfaction. 2. There were no differences in those teachers’ leisure need while examining the demographic variances such as position, school, marriage, family or total income, but there were differences when considering gender, age, rank and tenure. 3. There were no differences in those teachers’ leisure participation with demographic variances of rank, school, marriage, family or total income; but there were prominent differences when examining gender, age, position and tenure. 4. In leisure satisfaction, there were no differences with position, department, marriage or family, but there were differences with gender, age, rank, tenure and total income. 5. There was prominent correlation between leisure need and the activity-choice of leisure participation. 6. There was prominent correlation between the activity-choice of leisure participation and the degree of satisfaction.
