Abstract

Fernando Jaumandreu Obradors(1896-1945)is not a widely known musician in Western music history. When people talk about Spanish musicians, they often think of figures like Enrique Granados Campiña(1867-1916), Isaac Albeniz(1860-1909), and Manuel de Falla(1876-1946). However, Obradors' "Canciones Clásicas Españolas, Vol. 1" has achieved great popularity, with numerous opportunities for performance in both vocal and piano contexts. This paper aims to explore Obradors' work in depth. The thesis is divided into four chapters. Chapter one serves as an introduction, discussing the research motivation and the author's aspirations for personal growth and providing a reference for future researchers. Chapter two reviews the literature, providing an overview of Spanish historical andmusical development, as well as an introduction to Obradors' life and creative style. Chapter three focuses on musical analysis and interpretation, analyzing seven pieces from "Canciones Clásicas Españolas, Vol. 1" from the perspective of a piano collaborator. The analysis delves into the relationship between the music and lyrics, poetic ambiance, harmonic changes, and balancing of dynamics to interpret the music. Chapter four concludes the thesis, and summarizing the key points discussed throughout.
