Abstract
The purposes of this study were to understand the current status of citizenship fatigue among college student affairs staff in northern Taiwan and to analyze the differences between the selected demographic variables. In addition, this study attempted to examine the perceived organizational support, team-member exchange, and self-efficacy in predicting the citizenship fatigue of the college student affairs staff in northern Taiwan. This study was based on a total of 1,199 student affairs staffs (excluding counseling centers, health centers and dormitory counselors) who were still working in the colleges in northern Taiwan in August 2020. Simple random sampling was used to set the target sample of 291 with a 95% confidence level and 5% confidence interval. A total of 566 questionnaires were distributed and the target number of valid questionnaires was returned in early November 2020. The data obtained were analyzed by statistical methods such as descriptive statistics, one-sample t test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression. The major findings are listed as followings: 1.The current state of citizenship fatigue among the college student affairs staff in northern Taiwan is mild. 2.The citizenship fatigue of the college student affairs staff in northern Taiwan is lower in those with a doctoral degree, the major in student affairs, a faculty concurrently holding an administrative position, and a supervisor. However, there is no significant differences on gender, age, professional certificate and tenure. 3.The citizenship fatigue of the college student affairs staff in northern Taiwan is negatively correlated with perceived organizational support. 4.The citizenship fatigue of the college student affairs staff in northern Taiwan is negatively correlated with team-member exchange. 5.The citizenship fatigue of the college student affairs staff in northern Taiwan is negatively correlated with self-efficacy. 6.After controlling the influence of demographic variables, the results of the hierarchical multiple regression analyses show that the perceived organizational support, team-member exchange and self-efficacy are significant in predicting the citizenship fatigue of the college student affairs staff in northern Taiwan. Based on the findings above, the recommendations for practice and further research have also been provided in this study.
