The introduction outlines the research objectives, scope, and methodology, providing a foundation for the study. It is followed by an exploration of Finzi’s biography and compositional style, highlighting the core characteristics of his music and the cultural context of his time.Chapters Three and Four provide an in-depth analysis of Let Us Garlands Bring and Earth and Air and Rain, respectively. Each chapter examines the poets’ backgrounds and the historical contexts of the compositions, accompanied by translations and interpretations of the texts. Through musical analysis and interpretive discussion, this study investigates how Finzi’s music captures the emotional depth and imagery of the poetry, utilizing his lyrical melodies and rich harmonic language to convey the interplay between nature and human experience.Finally, the conclusion summarizes the key points of the study on the two song cycles, highlighting how Finzi interprets the emotions and imagery of the poetry through his music, reflecting his profound understanding of English poetry and culture.
