Research on Taiwan’s Badminton Team Players Strategy Planning for International Tournament during the COVID-19 PandemicJuly, 2022 Author : Hu, Ling-Fang Advisor : Lee, Chien-Shing Abstract Since 2019, the coronavirus pandemic has impacted worldwide and Taiwan’s badminton sports national training team was no exception. Facing new challenges in life and systems, players made adjustments regarding physical strength, mentality, skills, and strategies. These experiences could be references for future players as well as researches. The research aims to analyze the training process and experiences of badminton playersin the national training team to prepare for international badminton tournaments during the pandemic and reflect on how they have experienced. Methods: Case study and the recursive abstraction method are adopted. Semi-structured interview is used for observing and having better understanding of the participants, and relevant literature reviews, for framing the research structure. Findings: The national badminton team selects qualified individual players half a year and then train them in National Sports Training Center with periodical physical training and skill practices to prepare for international tournaments. Training sessions followed BWF’s regulations and rolling adjustments were made. In guidance, players underwent isolation training. However, even though players could maintain strengths and get a feel for playing badminton, restricted by environments, facilities, and social-distancing policy, they still could not receive high-intensity and varied training.keywords:national team players, athletic performance, COVID-19, international sports competition
