Abstract
During the period from 1895 to 1945, Japan was referred to as the mainland and Taiwan was referred to as a overseas territories. In 1927, during the middle of the Japanese rule, the main character of this theory, Shotaro Takeuchi, was born, whose parents had come from the mainland to Taiwan. After entering the Taipei Higher School for one year, he was called into the army as an apprentice and experienced the war as an apprentice soldier. After the war, he was repatriated to Japan, and in 1950, he was sent to the Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of Justice, where he met his former classmates from the Taipei Higher School one after another. How did the time and migration change the boundary between Taiwan and Japan? What changes did the emergence and change of the national border bring to the boundary between Japan and Taiwan? Have the boundaries of individuals changed? --These are the three questions that this thesis tries to explore.Through Shotaro Takeuchi's personal memoirs and interviews, this thesis attempts to trace Takeuchi's life and explore the changes in migration and boundaries between Taiwan and Japan.
