Abstract
With the rapid development of digital technology, our era changes swiftly and violently. Smartphones have outplaced digital cameras, calculators, flashlights, maps, notepads and more. Search engines have abolished the need to go to libraries and find resources, technology brought us convenience, and data-driven decisions improved work efficiency. However, is the information on the internet necessarily accurate? Moreover, if we use algorithms based on biased data, what will it result in?This research focuses on the possible risks of inadaptability to changes in SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), and the possible bias originated from over-reliance on technology, statistics and algorithms due to not understanding the meanings behind the data nor the limitations of the model. By using the DMAIC method of the six sigma initiative, we hope to re-define the meanings behind the data, also to reduce the data bias, and uncertainties. Investigating individual cases from work and life experiences, we look forward to enlightening the idea of risk-awareness in corporate culture, so that the probability of risks in decision-making meets our expectations.
