Abstract
本文以白先勇的小說人物作為研究對象，計分兩節三大部份，第一部份論人物性格，側重人物的個體性，第二部份論人物關係，注意人物的社會性、追溯人物的歷史性，第三部份論人物心理，探討人物呈現的技巧性。本文嘗試運用一個比較的觀點說明一位飽受西方創作技巧訓練，他的中國背景如何形成根深柢固的文化意識，呈現在他的創作之中。
This article analyzes character in Bai shiang-Uong's novels. It is divided into three parts. Bai's methods of characterization, his structuring of human relationships, and his use of stream of consciousness. Taking a comparative view, the author attempts to explain how a novelist with a profound and abiding Chinese consciousness uses Western novelistic techniques to merge Eastern and Western experiences.
