論電玩遊戲繁簡中文版的翻譯規範異同——以《Fallout 76》為例

dc.description.abstract | 近年來電玩產業活躍發展,越來越多遊戲開發商願意投注成本於在地化業務中,藉此拓展海外市場,電玩在地化產業也因此日益蓬勃。中國人口基數大,電玩遊戲市場潛力不容小覷,而台灣雖然人口較少,但玩家消費力驚人,使得不少遊戲開發商願意為出品的遊戲推出中文版。中國和台灣雖然同樣使用中文,但政經文化背景差異大,因此不乏有開發商願意為自家的遊戲分別推出簡體中文和繁體中文版。本研究以角色扮演遊戲《Fallout 76》的實際文本做為案例,透過圖里的規範理論分析簡中版和繁中版翻譯策略的異同。整體而言,簡中版譯文較具充分性,面對不同電玩在地化獨有的各種挑戰時,大多以緊扣原文的方式處理。相對之下,繁中版譯文較具可接受性,頻繁使用增譯、減譯、調動句型等策略,並較傾向使用台灣本土的措辭。透過本研究可發現兩岸不只政經背景差異大,電玩文化不盡相同,電玩在地化譯者使用的策略也大相逕庭,值得未來更深入研究。 | zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | The video game industry has seen significant growth in recent years. In order to market their games around the world, more and more game developers have started investing in localization efforts, which in turn has boosted the game localization industry. Due to its population, China boasts one of the biggest video game markets in the world. Though the Taiwanese population is much smaller, Taiwan still ranks amongst the top in terms of video game revenue. As such, many developers also publish their games in localized Mandarin Chinese versions. Though Mandarin Chinese is the official language in both Taiwan and China, due to the differences in culture and politics, developers are willing to publish two distinct localized versions to cater to the two markets. This thesis analyzes the Simplified and Traditional Chinese versions of Fallout 76 and discusses the different norms that can be observed in the two versions. Generally speaking, the Simplified Chinese version is the more adequate translation while the Traditional Chinese version frequently adopts strategies that can be considered more acceptable, such as addition, deduction, and adjusting sentence patterns. The analysis in this thesis shows that China and Taiwan differ not only in terms of political and economic climate but also in terms of their gaming cultures. The different norms and strategies adopted by the translators from the two countries can be an interesting topic for further studies. | en_US |
