Abstract
In the world of music, the interaction and interpretation between different instruments have always been a captivating subject, also serving as a means for musicians to seek inspiration. With the advancement of modern technology and the enhancement and diversification of musical performance art, the limitations imposed on playing instruments have also been greatly reduced. Many tones that were previously difficult to reproduce can now be easily presented to audiences through technology. In recent years, the practice of electric guitar interpreting piano solos has garnered increasing attention. This study aims to explore how electric guitars interpret piano solos and the impact of such interpretations on musical performance, using examples from the album"Hidden Melodies". This album reinterprets multiple piano solo pieces, utilizing the electric guitar as the primary instrument of interpretation. The author hopes that this album will inspire more electric guitar players. With its unique timbre and techniques, the electric guitar reinterprets pieces originally composed for the piano, presenting a fresh sonic style. The research objective of this paper is to enhance the development and innovation of guitar skills through the interpretation of piano solos and to address challenges encountered during execution by proposing solutions. Apart from helping readers understand the differences in tonality between the two instruments, the study also attempts to explore how the electric guitar can compensate for characteristics that cannot be showcased on the piano. It explains how the electric guitar employs effects while performing piano solos, aiming to enhance the expressiveness of instrument performance and approach the dynamic qualities presented by piano solos. This research also provides a reference for future directions in music performance art and research.
