Abstract In recent years, risk management has become a popular subject in both academic studies and business practices. It is because the consequences of some events had been so devastated that traditional ways of handling unexpected incidents proved to be ineffective. Though the notion of risk has not been connected or mentioned in the study of the profession, Interpretation, it is worthwhile to see what the risks are for interpreters when conducting this profession so as to analyze those identified risks and decide what mitigation strategies to employ to better protect this profession. Therefore, this paper intends to identify the risks faced by an interpreter from the stage where an interpreter accepts the assignment to the stage where an interpreter receives payment for the services rendered, and from the identified risks to see how they are managed now by interpreters in Taiwan and from the world. By simulating the risk identification process, I made Check list of hazards in each stage, and have classified them according to most direct risk management measures. I found that risk management ofControl Methods, such as Avoidance, Prevention, and Contractual Basis, is much more like pre-loss safety net; as for Risk Financing resorts, they are more post-loss mechanism, used to partially make up certain aspects of losses.zh_TW
