Abstract

With Xi Jinping successfully reelected as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee for the third time, the study of his personal leadership style and political preference has become more important. Xi Jinping’s political remarks and actions not only highlight his profound personal influence on CCP politics, but also reflect the changes in China’s political direction. This paper attempts to use information science technologies such as text mining and natural language processing from the perspective of computational politics to conduct an in-depth analysis of the speech content and language usage patterns between Xi Jinping and former CCP leaders: Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping.By comparing the speeches of these three leaders, We reveal Xi Jinping’s uniqueness in language expression and the political strategies and ideological tendencies behind it. The research will not only focus on frequency analysis of keywords, but will also explore word choice and tone changes in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Xi Jinping’s leadership style and its impact on the CCP’s future policy direction. The results of this study will provide a new perspective for interpreting the political changes of the contemporary Chinese Communist Party and bring new applications of computational methods to the field of political science research.
