Abstract

本研究之目的是探討運動經紀人在我國職業棒球產業中所扮演的角色及功能,以及未來發展的可能性及必要性。本研究以文獻分析法與訪談法為主,訪談對象為中華職棒大聯盟球團代表、球員以及運動經紀人共十一位。研究結果發現運動經紀人在我國職業棒球運動產業中扮演溝通、規畫、尋求締約機會與條件以及個人照顧的角色及功能,並且須具備溝通能力、行銷、法律、棒球知識以及公共關係等專業能力。運動經紀人自1990年便出現我國職業棒球產業中,但國內職棒早期的經紀人是扮演引進洋將的角色,本土球員並無雇用運動經紀人,其中的因素包括了以下四項:我國職業棒球運動球隊不多、球員薪資低薄、資方優勢且強勢以及運動經紀人本身能力不足。1999年起的旅外潮,開啟了我國職棒選手藉由經紀人與國外球團談約的現象。2005年隨著旅外球員回國發展,將運動經紀人帶回國內,而目前運動經紀人在我國職業棒球運動中,功能僅發揮在與球隊簽約之前,簽約後球員的經紀權利就由球團方面主導。依目前中華職棒大聯盟環境來看,短期間內尚無發展的空間,但,因球員本身缺乏行銷、法律以及談判等專業能力,運動經紀人在這些方面可以給予必要以及專業的服務,所以運動經紀人在我國職業棒球產業中的發展仍有其必要性。
The goal of the study is to discuss the role and function of sports agents, possibility and necessity in the future of Taiwan professional baseball industry. Literature analysis and interview method are used in the study. The study had 11 interviewees, including team representatives, players and sports agents. The result showed that the role and function of sports agents of Taiwan professional baseball industry included communicating, planning, searching for opportunities of signing contracts and taking care of players. In addition, sports agents should have professional abilities which included communication, marketing, legislation and public relation. Sports agents have appeared in Taiwan professional baseball industry since 1990. In the early times, sports agents of Taiwan professional baseball mainly introduced foreign players, while local players did not hire sports agents. The reasons are as follows: insufficient professional baseball teams and players’ salary, strong and advantageous employers, and sports agents’ inadequate ability. The trend of playing abroad from 1999 opened the door to the interaction between local players and foreign teams through sports agents. Players who played abroad came back to Taiwan with their sports agents in 2005. Nowadays, sports agents can only function before signing contract with baseball teams in Taiwan. After signing contracts, players’ rights belong to the teams. From the perspective of the environment of Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL), there is not any room for development in a short period. Nevertheless, players lack the professional ability of marketing, legislation, negotiation and so on. Therefore, sports agents can provide players with necessary and professional service and play a necessary role in the development of professional baseball industry in Taiwan.
