Abstract
This study examines Taiwan's orange generations' triathlon motivations. According to the National Development Council of the Executive Yuan for the year 2021, 44.69% of Taiwan's population would be between the ages of 40 and 69, and the average life expectancy of both men and women would be higher than the global average. World Health Organization defines the "Orange Generation" as those 65 and older, while the typical "Orange Generation" is 45 and older. The Orange Generation is still healthy and physically active. They're more open to the economy, health, entertainment, and investment than elderly. The Orange Generation is retiring or has retired and values "health issues," "education and learning," "leisure and entertainment," "love and dedication," and "self-realization." Triathlon has been a popular sport in Taiwan for more than three decades, as well as a goal that many people aspire to and pursue. This study collected 342 valid questionnaires using a questionnaire and stratified sampling. Following analysis, the second stage has been executed. Semi-structured interviews were used to further investigate the triathlon participation motivations and requirements of the Orange Generation. Interviews were conducted with seven members of the Orange Generation, six of whom had participated in triathlons and one of whom had not. In addition to a clear understanding of the ethnic profile of the Orange Generation, the study has discovered that physical conditions and health management are double-edged swords for Orange Generation triathletes. If the Orange Generation wants to participate in triathlons in the future, health management and self-realization can be used to persuade them to do so. This study has suggested that in the future, the number of questionnaire samples and interview groups can be expanded. Suppose that the epidemic slows in the future, physical multi-person interviews can be conducted to deepen respondents' interaction. It can also provide a comprehensive plan for the Orange Generation to participate in triathlons with ease and feasibility.
