Abstract
本論文從文體角度探討林語堂先生翻譯《浮生六記》時運用何種策略再現原作風格。「風格」一詞乃西方style一字的對譯,主要指文字的表現方式和特色。《浮生六記》的風格特色為散偶結合,文章錯綜有變化;寫景狀物,形象鮮活。本論文分為四章:第一章為「林語堂與《浮生六記》」,內容為《浮生六記》作品簡介,林語堂翻譯此書的動機、策略探討,及大陸學者對林氏譯本的評價摘要;第二章是「林譯句式評析」,討論林氏翻譯時如何處理對偶、排比、散偶結合的句式;第三章是「林譯修辭評析」,探討林氏對比喻修辭、對比技巧、各種感官描寫的翻譯;第四章是「林譯與《浮生六記》其他譯本」,分析、比較林譯本和另外兩個譯本的異同。本論文期能透過上述的分析,瞭解林氏的翻譯策略,以為日後譯者參考。
This thesis aims at exploring how the style of Six Chapters of the Floating Life is represented in Lin Yutang’s translation. Style means distinctive characteristics of one’s writing, such as one’s choice of diction, sentence structures, images, etc. Parallel structures and vivid images give Six Chapters of the Floating Life an elegant style. This thesis is divided into four chapters. Chapter One “Lin Yutang and Six Chapters of the Floating Life” includes the introduction to Six Chapters of the Floating Life, that to Lin Yutang’s translation of the book, and the summary of some scholars’ evaluation of Lin’s translation. Chapter Two “The Evaluation of the Translation of Sentence Structures in Lin’s Version” explores Lin’s translation of parallel structures and compound sentences. Chapter Three “The Evaluation of the Translation of Figures of Speech in Lin’s Version” discusses Lin’s translation of metaphors, of antitheses and of images. Chapter Four “The Comparison of Lin’s Translation and Another Two Translations of Six Chapters of the Floating Life” analyzes the similarities and differences of these three translations in order to have a better understanding of Lin’s translation strategies.
