Abstract
This study took the participants of yoga courses in Daan and Zhongshan Civil Sport Centers in Taipei, Taiwan as the research objects, and explores the correlation between the perceived health status and the well-being. In this study, a total of 403 surveys were collected to investigate aspects including demographic variables such as experience in exercising, perceived health scales, and well-being scales. The data analysis methodologies include descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. The research results were summarized as below:1. There are significant differences in perceived health status across different ages and years of yoga participation.2. There are significant differences in well-being status across ages, marital status, and years of yoga participation.3. Perceived health status and well-being of participants in yoga courses are positively correlated.4. The well-being of yoga participants can be predicted by their perceived health status. The benefits of yoga go beyond physical fitness and relaxation. It also stimulates the groupness of the participants, which increases individuals’ sense of belonging in modern society. With the observation, this study proposes recommendations on how to promote participation and awareness in yoga to develop national-wide fitness and exercise habits. The study also provides guidance on cultivating yoga professionals at scale to improve overall mental health status in Taiwan’s society.
