zh_TW
The purpose of this study was researching the need of using audio description to assist the learning of elementary school students with visual impairment, setting up the structure and strategies for the above learning, and interpreting the limitations and future for the above learning. The study used grounded theory, then interview and observation were the main approaches to collect data. The study was divided into two stages. The first stage was researching the need and difficulties of the learning, and then the second stage was referring the result of the first stage and set up the structure and strategies for the above learning of “Science and Technology” . The results of study were as following: 1. Students with visual impairment needed to use audio description to assist the learning in grade 1-9 curriculum learning area and special needs curriculum area as well, but in different ways. Besides, they needed to use audio description to assist the learning in non-specific, class-specific situations, and school activities too. The factors that make different needs of using audio description to assist the learning of students with visual impairment were the level of impairment, life experiences, words comprehension, and individual trait of students with visual impairment. 2. There were five parts in the structure of using audio description to assist elementary school students with visual impairment to learn “Science and Technology”: (1)before audio description, (2)the way of starting audio description, (3)the way of descripting diagrams, (4)the way of ending audio description, and (5)after audio description. There were three parts in the strategies of using audio description to assist elementary school students with visual impairment to learn “Science and Technology”: (1)The strategies of using words, including analogy, meaning of words, and wording. (2)The strategies of depth description, including the nature of objects, space and position, dynamic progress, and process of “vision”. (3)The strategies of making better comprehension including applying life experiences, comparing the similarities and differences, collocating with the tactile sense, making examples to elaborate the concept, and having greater knowledge. 3. The difficulties of using audio description to assist the learning were including the lack of time, hard to comprehend, the lack of professionals, and the limitations of audio description itself. The study provided possible solutions for the above difficulties. The study provided suggestions for visually impaired education, policy decision, and future studies.en_US
