Abstract
The concept of core stability originated from clinical application in physical therapy. The benefit the stability of trunk, or lumbopelvic-hip complex, has on human movements, has brought this concept to the domain of sports and exercise, and thus there is research concerning the relationship between core stability and performance. Mainly, there are two approach designs: training intervention, and correlation analysis. However, the stability of the core is affected by complex factors. If not cautiously controlled, the approach might not be able to clarify the relationship. The following factors, which may affect the result and vary much between researches, were summarized: 1. The relevance between the tests and the topic; 2. The population for which the tests are suitable; 3. The specificity of the tests to the performed movements. Regarding the factors, we suggested that: 1. The adapted testing and training methods being described as precisely as possible, allowing other researches to refer to; 2. Various testing protocols being developed according to different muscular characters, such as strength, endurance, power… etc.; 3. Relationship between core stability and simple movements being investigated first, then advance to complex spor t movements.
