以眼動儀探究圖文排版之閱讀效益−以機車使用手冊為例

Abstract
本研究應用眼動儀分析大學生在閱讀機車使用手冊圖文排版的閱讀效益,研究目的以現有的機車使用手冊中,去記錄多數人習慣的機車使用手冊圖文排版方式,進而分析與探究目前大學生較能夠接受的圖文排版方式,研究者將機車使用手冊的圖文排版分為四種:「圖片右文字左」、「圖片左文字右」、「圖片下文字上」、「圖片上文字下」。由受試者自行去挑選閱讀,並使用眼動儀紀錄受試者的眼動歷程,眼動儀受測後再進行機車資訊號碼的識別,識別項目分別為「機車引擎號碼」、「車架號碼」、「防盜竊烙碼」、「車輛排氣管管制資訊排氣量」,該四項機車資訊號碼皆識別正確為識別成功,再進一步統計分析受測者在閱讀機車使用手冊時的閱讀時間,與閱讀過後的識別時間,本研究受測人數128人,將未完成識別之樣本剔除,剩下有效樣本人數為117人。研究發現大學生習慣的圖文排版方式為圖片左文字右62人(占48.4%) ,經進一步統計分析結果發現,選擇圖片右文字左和圖片左文字右的圖文排版方式,皆達到統計水準上的差異,在閱讀時間圖片右文字左(平均為34.7秒)比圖片左文字右(平均為48.3秒)所花費的時間較短13.6秒;但是在識別時間上圖片左文字右(平均為125.1秒)比圖片右文字左(平均為163.9秒)所花費的時間較短38.8秒;在閱讀時間與識別時間加總,圖片左文字右(平均173.4為秒)會比右文字左(平均為198.6秒)來的短25.2秒,因此圖片左文字右為目前大學生所習慣的圖文排版模式,可供機車製造廠商在設計機車使用手冊時參考。
This study is aiming at exploring the eyes movement process of college student when reading graphic layout of the motorcycle operator manual. The purpose of the research is to record the graphic layout of the locomotive manual that most people are accustomed to in the existing motercyle operator manual, and then analyze and explore the current college students. A more acceptable way of layout of graphics and text, the researchers divided the graphics and text layout of the motercyle operator manual into four types: the right text on the right of the picture, the left text on the left of the picture, the text on the bottom of the picture, and the text on the bottom of the picture. The subjects performed the eye tracker experiment, and then the Motercyle information number test. The identification items are"Motercyle Engine Number", "Frame Number", "Anti-Theft" Brand code ", and "Vehicle exhaust pipe control information & exhaust volume", the four motercyle operator information numbers are correctly identified as a successful identification. In further statistical analysis of the subject's reading time when reading the motercyle operator manual, and after reading Recognition time, 128 university students were tested in this study, and the samples that have not been recognized are eliminated, and the effective number of the subjects is 117. The study found that 62 people (48.4%) were accustomed to the graphic typesetting of pictures on the left and right of the text by university students. After further statistical analysis, it was found that the graphic typesetting methods of choosing the right text on the picture and the left text on the picture all reached the statistical level. The difference in reading time is 13.6 seconds shorter in the reading time of the right text of the picture (average 34.7 seconds) than the left text of the picture (average 48.3 seconds); however, the recognition time of the picture left text (average 125.1 seconds) ) is 38.8 seconds shorter than the time spent on the right text of the picture (163.9 seconds on average); when the reading time and recognition time are added together, the right text on the left of the picture (average 173.4 seconds) is shorter than the right text on the left (average 198.6 seconds) Is as short as 25.2 seconds, so the left text on the right of the picture is the graphic typesetting mode that univesity students are accustomed to, and the motorcycle manufacturer can use it as a reference when designing the motorcycle operator manual.
