林茂生文教活動之研究（1887-1947）

Abstract

林茂生出生於清代，一生經過三個不同的政府統治——清朝、日本、國民政府，也接受過不同文化的洗禮——中國文化、基督教文化、日本文化、台灣本土文化，更曾到國外——日本、美國求學，其思想融合古今中外，人生閱歷豐富；返回台灣之後更曾於多所學校任教，教導許多的學生；另外，他於學校教育之外也致力於社會教育，其一生可說都是為了台灣在打拼，為了他所熱愛的台灣這塊土地之文化提升而奉獻心力。 本文首章先緒論，說明研究緣起、研究目的、文獻探討、研究方法、範圍與限制；第二章為生平概述，敘述時代背景、家居生活及求學經歷；第三章則分節敘說林茂生獻身學校教育方面的活動；第四章則說明林茂生參與社會教育之活動；第五章則為結論並提出對現今學校教育之建議與啟示。Abstract Dr. Lin Mosei , born in Ch'ing dynasty Taiwan, all his life went through three periods of government during Taiwanese history-- Ch'ing dynasty, Japanese colonization and the Kuo Min Tang government. Also he underwent some different cultural experiences—Chinese culture, the Christian culture, Japanese Culture and Taiwanese native culture. More he had studied abroad—Japanese and America. His thought integrated many parts-ancient and modern, Taiwanese and foreign. His life experiences were aware and crowded. He strove for Taiwan all his life, dedicated his whole life to the land he devoted. After returning to Taiwan, Dr. Lin Mosei has taught at several schools, instructing lots of students. Besides school education, he also paid attention to social education. This thesis includes four parts. The first is to explore the motive, method, scope and limitation of the research. The second is to describe Dr. Lin Mosei’s life, including the historical background, family life and study experiences. The third is to discuss the activities which Dr. Lin Mosei has devoted to；The forth is to explain the actions of social education which Dr. Lin Mosei has taken part in. The fifth is the conclusion containing some suggestions and notices for today’s school education.
