Abstract
There were about 3,250 paradise fishes, Maclopodus opercukaris Linnaeus, were cultured in the Miaoli County in Taiwan. After feed change in the May, the rotten body surface and contiguous dead of cultured paradise fish were found. The clinic findings of the diseased fishes were bled at basal fins, peripheral site of genital pore and bilateral surface of abdomen. Whitish-mucus gills, edema intestine, and multi-focal white tubercles were discovered at necropsy. From the histopathology study, the results showed multi-focal granulomas in spleen, kidney, and liver. Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida and Edwardsiella ictaluri were isolated from above lesions. From the results of the experimental animal tests and antimicrobial susceptibility tests, Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida shown more violent than the other. Therefore, it might be this case major pathogen. At the same time, Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida was susceptible to many antibiotics. After the culture management enhanced, we suggested that to treat with 10-20 mg/kg/day oxolinic acid for 7 days for the cultured tanks. Finally, this case was significantly improved and controlled after treatment.
