Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the campus experiences of indigenous university students, the services provided by the Indigenous Student Resource Center, and their employability. Employing a"mixed methods" approach, both quantitative data and qualitative interviews were sequentially conducted, focusing on indigenous university students in northern Taiwan. The quantitative analysis utilized descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, stepwise regression, and hierarchical regression methods. For the qualitative aspect, 8 indigenous university students with different personal variables were selected for interviews, in accordance with the research objectives. Based on the research findings, the study investigates potential factors that influence the employability of indigenous university students. The findings of this study are outlined as follows:1, The ranking of high and low scores in the campus experiences of indigenous university students are, in sequence,"peer relationships," "academic engagement," and "participation in activities." 2.In the counseling services experience provided by the Indigenous Student Resource Center, indigenous university students scored in the following sequence: "academic guidance," "ethnic and cultural education," "faculty support within the Indigenous Resource Center," and "employment counseling." 3. Among the employability factors of indigenous university students, the top three highest-scoring aspects are "interpersonal interaction," "work responsibility and discipline," and "teamwork ability." 4. The campus experiences of indigenous university students are significantly correlated with overall employability and eight specific abilities, including "interpersonal interaction." These experiences account for 30.2% of the variance in overall employability. Among the campus experiences, "academic engagement" demonstrates the highest correlation, followed by "peer relationships" and "participation in activities." 5. The experiences with counseling and services provided by the Indigenous Student Resource Center are significantly correlated with overall employability and eight specific abilities, including"interpersonal interaction." These experiences explain 16.9% of the variance in overall employability. Among these experiences, "academic guidance" demonstrates the strongest correlation, followed by "employment counseling." 6. the study found that residing in school dormitories and actively participating in "academic engagement" and "peer relationships" within campus experiences, as well as experiencing "academic guidance" in the counseling and services provided by the Indigenous Student Resource Center, collectively explain as much as 39.2% of the variance in overall employability.7. the interview results align closely with the quantitative conclusions, affirming the significance of"academic engagement" and "peer relationships" within campus experiences, as well as the importance of "academic guidance" within the counseling and services provided by the Indigenous Student Resource Center, in relation to employability. 8. This study offers specific recommendations for four aspects: indigenous university students, the Indigenous Student Resource Center, educational authorities, and future research.
