zh_TW
dc.description.abstract“Fleeting Lights” refer to "the lights reflected by a surface" and "fleeting shadows," both of which are too surreal to be observed in depth. Our life resembles fleeting lights in that both are surreal and unreal, depicting life in the modern society having abundant sources of messages but they are at best superficially consumed due to their vast number. Techart is the trend in recent years of development. The current study adopts the techniques of Tech-art to represent the abstract, metaphysical concepts of fleeting lights. The procedure of this project is mainly composed of three main steps: formation, transformation, and the final products. The researcher reviewed the fundamental constructs of geometric shapes using literature review and then further explored Platonic solids to capitalize on a variety of strengths to raise the meaning and representation of the works in this study. In addition, polyhedrons can be manifested differently based on the “time, space, and medium,” three elements of light art. For instance, dynamic images and static works create the effects of optical illusions for the audience while observing them. The current project’s works are designed using polyhedrons to represent complex structures because according to Greek philosopher Aristotle, mathematics and geometry are the purest and eternal. Geometry is frequently adopted in art, ranging from constructions to household appliances, highly related to everyday life. Thus, one can analyze polyhedrons and geometric shapes from the viewpoints of the east and the west and to use those concepts to related works. In the perspective of psychology, Jung also proposed the prototype of Mandala that visualizes metaphysical ideas through the images of religion and philosophy. The sense of time and space can be created through lights using different media of representation, which is the same case with geometric shapes in that both can create optical illusions. Hence, the current study combines the elements of media and geometry in its visual art. The technique adopted by this thesis is fusing lights with dynamics and the researcher represents them using tactile, optical, and perceptual transactions. Tactile interactions are achieved by creating interactions between the audience and the works via interactive touch-screen devices or smartphones’ Quick Response (QR) Codes. Perceptual interactions are accomplished by creating three-dimensional effects using two-dimensional geometric works to construct such perceptual illusions. Optical interactions are the results of blinking lights or dynamic images, things beyond the control of the audience, to produce after-image effects for the audience. This study combines lights and geometric designs to create different visual effects and the accompanying possibilities.en_US
