Abstract
This research aimed to explore the experiences of visually impaired runners and guide runners in running interactions, adopting a partnership-oriented perspective to examine the distinctive features of this unique form of collaboration. Using a qualitative research approach, data were collected through interviews and participant observation to investigate how visually impaired runners and guide runners established and maintained partnerships, how they coordinated and cooperated during interactions, and the impact of these experiences on both individual and social levels. The findings revealed that the establishment of partnerships between visually impaired runners and guide runners was a dynamic and evolving process, requiring ongoing interaction and adaptation to build mutual trust and rapport. Effective collaboration relied on the complementarity and coordination of sensory information to achieve running goals. For visually impaired runners, running served not only as a means of physical training but also as an important pathway to self-identity and social participation. For guide runners, guiding was not solely an act of assistance but also a process of personal growth and reflection.Based on these findings, this research recommended enhancing guide runner training, promoting diverse participation models, fostering a supportive social environment, and encouraging further research into this topic. Through qualitative inquiry, this research provided new insights for both practical applications and theoretical development in the field of sports for the visually impaired.
