Abstract
In our daily life, the communications among people are mainly written records and linguistic narratives. In the process of communicating, facial expressions can be used to emphasize the conveyance of emotions so that our feelings or emotions can be more clearly transmitted to others. That is, words and language deliver the clear message while expressions transmit the emotions. Sometimes, expressions can be used to soften what words do and help create a proper atmosphere. Apart from words and expressions, we use our body movements, which may also get people’s attention and even attract some physical contact. This series of processes makes our communication more complete. The purpose of this research is to explore how our limbs convey our emotions or feelings when there are no words or facial expressions. The movements could be aroused directly, suggestively, or unconsciously. Psychologists have been trying to figure out how DNA or environments affect our body movements. Some consider the movements are embedded in our DNA, and some regard them as reflex actions that come from tension, depression, or excitement triggered by the environment. These body codes may seem fragmental or incomplete, but they become the focus of emotional expression. By observing the symbols, accessories, gestures, or movements, we try to uncover the hidden messages and understand what painters and sculptors want to express through the paintings and sculptures. These indirect expressions and metaphors stimulate our imagination, leave us a clear impression, and promote us to think and observe things in a more comprehensive way.
