Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this dissertation is to study the relationships between and methods behind fine arts teaching and criticism based on course design for educational materials and actual teaching activities. Taking a class of the Department of Advertising Design in a senior vocational school as our research subject, we studied, through practical teaching activities, the means of creating and assessing educational materials. This included the use of educational guides prior to the course for assessment of lessons in the process of creating teaching materials, as well as an assessment of the results from the teaching materials following completion of the course. The research methodology used performance in actual classes, incorporating the concepts of cognitive psychology as well as the perceptions of the course instructor. The information is collected from the following sources: 1. Educational guides used as part of teaching materials 2. An assessment form for the course using course objectives. 3. Self-evaluation form for the learning process. 4. Feedback form from students. 5. Consolidated assessment form on learning results. The research approach, based on creation of educational materials, uses an actual teaching process to study fine arts teaching methods and criticism. It is expected that, through the different methods of course design, course implementation and course assessment, students will develop from practical experience the ability to think critically. It is also expected that from integrating diverse teaching activities students will fully develop their learning processes and results. Moreover, this research should help them to understand an effective way of assessing educational materials. This will not only help students successfully demonstrate learning results at each stage of their personal development, but also provide reference for related studies in the future. The results and findings of the research are as follows:- 1. Through course design, lessons on production of educational materials will help to build effective educational values. 2. Educational materials help to integrate students’ different views of self, educational programs, competitive activities, professional creation, academic performance and information collection. They also demonstrate the students’ processes of creating educational materials. 3. By means of the assessment methods in this study, it is possible to achieve results from evaluating educational materials. 4. Through the promotion of educational materials, a precise production flow process can be created through the analysis of consolidated feedback with support from relevant administrative units. This will aid the promotion of educational materials for students. 5. The establishment of educational material assessment through the objective-based assessment of each lesson, as well as a consolidated assessment on overall learning results will provide teachers effective ways to assess students’ educational materials.
