中國近15年來，所發展的藝術品拍賣產業欣欣蓬勃，拍賣公司多如過江之鯽，然而這個非民生必需的市場，竟然率先其他產業起動，於身處「開發中國家」的中國大放異彩。在2006年，總成交金額超過160億人民幣（約20億5千萬美元）的市場，在面對市場運作時，經常有做價、作假、泡沫、洗錢、受賄、投機、贗品、暗盤、操縱、利益輸送等，反面字眼出現在藝術市場報導的文章中，這些情況的發生，是因為人為的操縱？或是財富快速累積下的社會現象？還是市場政策的制定出了問題？而又要如何在亂象叢生的市場中，找到產業發展的動能？
