Abstract
According to the research data, seniors who contacted with animals more often were significantly positive correlated with their physical and mental development and health improvement. The first stage of this study were used questionnaire and interviewing with 277 seniors aged over 65 who lived in the retirement home and did not live in the retirement home. The result showed that nearly half of seniors were willing to accept stray dogs and more than half of seniors expressed willingness to accept the Dr.Dog service. The second stage of this study would focus on the possibility of seniors participating in training stray dogs. Based on observing the status of Taiwan Dr.Dog training process from the documentary, considering the differences of body size, body functions and required space between seniors and dogs. Therefore to explore the designing of specific and friendly space for Dr.Dog training. This study concluded the material and the color for interior design of this study. To provide seniors and dogs an independent and suitable environment and to perform Dr.Dog training courses effectively, researcher recommended five design considerations as follows: independence, convenience, safety, sanitation and durability. The purpose of this study is to raise everyone’s attention to seniors and Dr.Dog, and furthermore to respect for life and crate better society.
