個體「期待-價值」之研究-以美國暑期工讀旅遊專案為例

dc.description.abstract「美國暑期工讀旅遊專案」係由美國國務院文化教育交流部門私人組織交流辦公室負責推動執行的國際青年文化暨教育交流計畫之一。十八歲以上之外籍在學學生,可以透過指定私人組織經合法手續申請J-1簽證,於暑假期間到美國工作兼旅遊,最長四個月。此專案對臺灣開放十餘年來漸受大學生歡迎,每年吸引逾兩千位學生參與。本研究採質化研究方法,先以參與觀察法蒐集專案相關之第一手資料;再以「期待-價值」理論輔佐,深度訪談七位曾參與此專案且返臺工作一年以上之受訪者,以了解個體參與美國暑期工讀旅遊專案之價值是否符合期待,並探討此海外經驗是否對個體日後職涯發展產生正面影響。 研究結果發現,參與美國暑期工讀旅遊專案的動機與預期收穫歸納為「逃離舒適圈,獨自出國冒險增加視野」、「體驗道地美國文化與生活」、「利用工讀所得延長國外生活時間與旅遊」、「增進英語能力」四項;而實際收穫與價值為「拓展國際觀、文化交流」、「工作價值觀與生活態度的衝擊與影響」、「建立具革命情感的深刻友誼」、「加深自我了解、體會故鄉美好」、「提高講英文的勇氣與興趣」、「環境適應力與問題決策解決能力」、「獲得家人認同肯定」、「成為群體中有故事、特別的人」八項。整體而言,價值皆符合期待。此海外經驗於求職當下雖不具實質幫助,但在往後職涯之英語溝通能力與社交人際方面則有正向影響。以上結果俾提供相關立法行政單位與未來有意參與美國暑期工讀旅遊專案者參考。zh_TW
dc.description.abstractThe “Summer Work Travel Program” is one of the exchange visitors programs ran by the office of Private Sector Exchange of the U.S. Department of State; it enables post-secondary students who are enrolled full-time and pursuing studies at accredited academic institutions located outside the United States to come to the United States to work and travel during their summer vacation. It provides foreign students with an opportunity to experience and to be exposed to the people and way of life of the United States.(U.S. Department of State, 2012)This kind of working holiday program has been popular for a long time in western culture. It has only existed in Taiwan for over a decade and attracts about 2,000 students to go to the U.S. every summer. However, there is little thesis focus on what it actually brings to the participants, and whether or not the overseas experience benefits their career development. Thus, this study uses in-depth interviews as the method to collect data from 7 individuals who have participated in the Summer Work Travel Program and have also been back to work for at least a year to discover the answer. The result of this study contributes to the related departments and the individuals who want to attend the Summer Work Travel Program.en_US
