臺灣高中生參與海外寄宿家庭式國際交流學習經驗之探究

Abstract

二十一世紀是個全球化的世代,因此近年來國內對於國際交流學習,尤其高中生跨國學習活動尤為重視。本研究以2018年台灣參與美國聖路易之國際交流的師生為研究的對象,以混合研究方式進行:包括紮根研究法、親身參與觀察法、深度訪談法、 及問卷調查法。先做文獻探討,再做深度訪談,訪談對象以立意取樣方式從四方面進行,佐以參與學生之問卷調查及分析,並對照訪談資料,最後得出研究結果以五個部分來呈現:1.參與此國際交流活動之背景,2. 參與的動機,3. 參與的獲益,4.遭遇之困難或問題,及5. 對此國際交流活動之展望。 本研究之發現簡述如下:(一)寄宿家庭式的國際交流之好處:1.快速增進語言能力、2.增進解決問題的能力、3. 擴展生活經驗,增進國際視野、4. 深入體驗美國文化、5. 增進人際關係、6.促使參訪者個性改變--有開放的胸襟來面對這個世界、7.得到鉅細靡遺的協助與關懷。(二)推動過程中容易遭遇之問題:包括語言程度的問題、個人的性格問題、個人偏好的問題、以及學校活動統整及聯繫上的問題。(三)研究發現這種親身經歷的寄宿家庭之國際交流學習經驗的確有助於學生提升學習成效。
The 21st century is a global Era. In recent years, we have paid special attention to international exchange programs, especially concerning high school students. This study analyzes Taiwan's 2018 participation in the international exchange program with St. Louis Missouri in the United States. This study leveraged mixed research methods, including the grounded theory methods, first person observation, in-depth interviews, and questionnaires. It begins with literature review, followed by in-depth interviews. The interview result will be conducted in four areas, and then compared with the questionnaire survey and analysis. The results of integrating the interview data with the questionnaire data are presented in five parts: 1. The background of participating in this international exchange Program, 2. The motivation for joining this program, 3. The benefits from joining this program, 4. The difficulties or problems encountered, and 5. The prospects for this international exchange program. The findings of this study are summarized as follows: (A) The students’benefits from joining a homestay-oriented international exchange Program: 1. Rapidly improve language skills, 2. Develop ability to solve problems, 3. Expand life experience and enhance international horizons. 4. Experience American culture in depth, 5. Promote relationships with others, 6. Promote the personality of visitors - have an open mind to face the world, 7. Get the exquisite assistance and care in details. (B) Problems easily encountered throughout the process: language proficiency, personality differences, personal preferences, and issues related to schools’integration and connections. (C) The study found that this experience of homestay-oriented international exchange program does help students improve their learning.
