Abstract
The aim of the thesis was to understand the performing arts students in vocational senior high schools, and to study the connections between their learning motives, low experiences and career plans. It was also important to perceive whether the flow experience played a mediation role between motives of learning and career plans. The survey targeted at students from four vocational senior high schools with a performing arts department in Taipei and New Taipei city. A total of 539 valid questionnaires were received then analysed through descriptive statistics, independent t test, analysis of variance, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, multiple regression analysis and Analysis of Moment. The result of the conclusion shows that: (1) Performing Arts students in vocational senior high schools have various learning motives for learning and career plans, based on the factors of “gender”, “whether the student lives with families related to performing arts industries”, “whether the student has relevant performing arts training before entering the department”, “whether the student has relevant internship experience”, “ the number of the times that the student has entered performing arts related competitions in the past year” and “the number of the times the student has performed publicly“; (2) Performing arts students in vocational senior high schools have significant differentiation in flow experience based on the following factors: “whether the student lives with families related to performing arts industries”, “whether the student has relevant performing arts training before entering the department”, “whether the student has relevant internship experience”, “ the number of the times that the student has entered performing arts related competitions in the past year” and “the number of the times the student has performed publicly”; (3) There is a noticeable pattern between motives for learning, flow experiences and career plans; (4) The flow experience of performing arts students in vocational senior high schools have a partial mediation effect between motives for learning and career plans.According to the results of research analysis, some guidance is provided to teachers, academies, government authorities. This study could also be used as a reference to fellow researchers.
