Abstract
This research intended to create a documentary picture book with folding quality which would leave a historic record of the diminishing ChouMei community and ChouMei Elementary school within it. ChouMei community stopped development due to government policies and restrictions. It has been undeveloped in the busy and crowded Taipei city for nearly thirty years. You can see rice fields everywhere. This is the most precious scenery to the locals. There are low-rise houses less than three floors tall in the community which has became the signature feature of the local area. Even though the school is facing demolition by MinKuo 100th year, the school still works hard to operate. It also teamed up with the community and YangMinShan television station on recording a documentary film in hopes of leaving more precious memories for the children. The researchers hope to bring the students, teachers, and locals real heartfelt feelings by the unique influences of the picture books. The intended readers for the picture book would be mainly the teachers and students of ChouMei Elementary school and some of the locals. Other than that, the researchers have developed a procedure to create a documentary picture book that is fun, truthful, and lovable: after the rising of the motive, through discussion of related article, fieldtrip, interviewing people and analyzing related picture book style. The researchers integrate all five information and add in their own creative style and creative ideas to develop the creative plan. Other than that, picture production process would include preliminary reader feedback, cross-reference, visual editing, and addition of postmodernism spirit. The result of the interview is presented with a light and fun method to bring out the creative and imaginative qualities of picture books. The final printed picture book would also be given to the school to be put into the historic information data base of the community to pass on in the future.
