Abstract
Art Nouveau is a decorative art movement that flourished from 1890 to 1910 in various countries across Europe, America, and parts of Asia, each with its distinct styles and names. Art Nouveau features naturalistic styles and forms that incorporates curved lines, waved and flowing lines, and motifs drawn from plants and flowers. Its distinct feature is the fusion of naturalistic details and abstract forms. Art Nouveau has achieved accomplished results in various fields and countries. Different art elements are expressed through various artistic principles, creating different visual effects. The unique structure of the composition and the multi-layered structural relationship create a rich sense of space in each artwork. This study explores the stylistic characteristics of Art Nouveau and use a case study approach to examine representative female artists who create Art Nouveau works featuring women as the main subject, analyzing their design elements and color scheme. This study then compiles the composition forms, color scheme, and element of Art Nouveau, and define its stylistic characteristics and design context. The results show that the most commonly used composition forms in Art Nouveau are balance, repetition, and contrast. Neutral colors are the primary color tones used, followed by warm colors. The most widely used elements are curves, feminine, and straight lines. Through analysis of the results obtained from the case study, the design elements of Art Nouveau will be applied to the creation and design of stationery using photocurable resin technology.
