Abstract
The Taipei Daan Forest Park which was built twenty-four years ago, was the first urban park that was designed to be a forest-scale park in Taiwan. The park provides the locals a recreation area with a natural-like environment. It also took the first place of the top 10 list of the most favorite park of the Taipei city. However, it seems to have more expectations to meet for a park nowadays. It becomes a worldwide trend to develop local culture in public spaces, which help establish the culture image of a city. Comparing with being a traditional playground, urban parks are considered as a platform which a variety of activities took places in. Affected by the globalism, more and more urban parks represent their cities’ cultures by holding art and culture activities, and so does Taipei Daan Forest Park. However, Taipei Daan Forest Park faces a problem that the public has difficulties to associate the park with culture. Though Taipei Daan Forest Park owns plenty of culture resources and has held a lot of cultural activities, people still regard it as only a natural playground. To convince the public to make the maximum use of culture resources in Taipei Daan Forest Park and enhance the culture image within the represented urban park of Taipei city, this research tries to analyze the images of Taipei Daan Forest Park, and compare them to those successful cases in other cities by using document analysis and in-depth interview. This research aims to figure out a strategy to enhance cultural image in Taipei Daan Forest Park and give out suggestions to relevant government agencies.
