Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to explore the effects of cinematic teaching methodology on teachers' hope. C.R. Snyder' s Hope Theory was adopted as the theoretical framework. By conducting a content analysis, 4 educational movies that illustrate stressful lives of middle school teachers were first selected. Then clips taken from these movies were put to discuss in a focus group.Issues with the perspective of hope theory were designed accordingly. By implementing this cinema program in a small group with 11 participants of in-service teachers, it was found that not only it fosters teachers' empathy but also promotes more reflections and creative thinking. According to the findings, suggestions for future professional growth were made.
