からいも交流─國際寄宿家庭交流對參加學生地方理解之影響

Abstract
為了重振人口外流以及經濟不振的鹿兒島縣大隅半島地區,からいも交流於1982年開始舉辦,招募外國留學生(參加學生)前往南九州鹿兒島縣與宮崎縣,重振經濟及體驗當地生活。參加學生藉此活動進入鹿兒島與宮崎兩縣。
參加學生在兩週的活動中,以家庭成員的身分參與家庭工作、學校交流、地區文化交流等,並且了解異地文化。本研究為了瞭解寄宿家庭活動對於參加者的地方理解之影響,採用質性研究方法,透過發放問卷及深入訪談以了解學生參加活動前後的地方經驗與對地方理解的差異;又透過寄宿家庭訪談,以了解其參加動機、目的,並分析此活動對其帶來的影響及如何影響留學生理解異地文化。另外,本研究也採用過去參加學生的心得報告書作量化內容分析。
Developing the Osumi Region in Kagoshima Prefecture, where there was Exodus of rural population and economic decline, Karaimo Koryu was initiated in 1982, inviting foreign exchange students (student participants) to go to Kagoshima Prefecture and Miyazaki Prefecture of the Southern Kyushu, and to participate in the local developments and to experience the livelihood there. Student participants enter Kagoshima Prefecture and Miyazaki Prefecture through this program. Acting as a role of family members, student participants participate in the family work, school exchange, regional cultural exchange and etc. in the two-week program and understand the foreign cultures. This research tries to understand the influence of the family homestay program on participants’ regional understandings. This research adopts qualitative methodologies. Through the distribution of questionnaires and in-depth interviews, it understands difference of the participants’ regional experience and regional understandings before and after the program. Through interviews with homestay families, it also understands the motives and purposes of participation, and analyses the influence brought by the programme and how the programme influences the participants to understand foreign cultures. Besides, the research collects the feedback reports written by previous student participants for quantitative analysis.
