視覺障礙者自我蛻變之敘說探究

Abstract
本研究旨在從視覺障礙者的自我敘說,理解其生命歷程中的經驗,通過他個人主觀所敘述的事件、人物、社會環境、文化脈絡等背景對其自我生命轉化產生的意義與影響,以探究其個人自我生成與社會支持。研究者以訪談的方式,蒐集五位視覺障礙者的自我敘說,來回應研究問題,並將文本資料以敘事研究法的整體內容,整理出人物敘事寫真,再與類別內容,做跨研究參與者的經驗,疏理出個中主題連結,兩種結果方式呈現。研究結果以人物敘事寫真呈現,這五位視覺障礙者的個人生命故事,有他/她個人的自我蛻變,以及社會支持環境,我們可以透過閱讀他/她的自我敘事,深刻地認識他/她這一個人,以及他/她生命歷程所揭示的自我經驗,以及個己意義。集結在「先天視覺障礙」的生命敘事,進行跨研究參與者的文本故事之歸納彙整,以類別內容整理視覺障礙者自我蛻變的障礙經驗之意義主題,有四點:一、「學齡前:身體發展與情感依附」;二、「兒童期:認知學業與人際支持」;三、「青年期:障礙接納與自我認同」;四「成年期:職業發展與社會支持」。視覺障礙者的障礙經驗與障礙接納的自我蛻變歷程,有五點描述:一、沒有感知到自己的視覺障礙;二、感知自己的視覺障礙;三、企圖正常化或隱藏自己視障的心理狀態;四、障礙經驗的挫折感與人際退縮;五、障礙接納到自我接納。依據研究結果,本研究提出三方面的建議供參考,一、視覺障礙者早期經驗;二、視覺障礙者,適應、障礙接納、自我接納;三、本研究的限制與未來研究的建議。關鍵字:先天視覺障礙、敘說、自我蛻變、社會支持
The purpose of this study is to explore the life experience of individuals with congenital visual impairments throughout their narrative about their experience and to explore their self development and social support they received. The researcher interviewed five persons with congenital visual impairments, and analyzed their narratives to answer the research questions. The results show two aspects: one is narrative profile, and the other is thematic connection.The narrative profile shows the growth and social support of these five persons. The findings indicate four main parts: 1. Preschool: physical development and emotional attachment; 2. Childhood: cognition and interpersonal support; 3. Adolescent age: acceptance of impairments and self-identification, 4. Adulthood: occupational development and social support. The findings also indicate that the five participants share similar experience: 1. Not knowing the nature of their visual impairments; 2. Knowing their visual impairments; 3. Attempting to be normal to hide their mental status of impairments; 4. Impairments experience of frustration and withdraw of interpersonal relationship; 5. Accepting impairments.Additionally, this study also presented several suggestions: 1. Expanding early experience of children with congenital visual impairments; and 2. Adapting to disability: impairment acceptance and self acceptance of persons with congenital visual impairments.
