Abstract
The main purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between junior high school students’ personal trait, interpersonal relationship, subculture identity, and self-harm tendency. There are three purposes included in the research:(1)to edit the “Scale of Self-harm Tendency”, which is applicable to junior high school students, and to build up the percentage rating norms that will enable us to understand the differences among junior high school students of all genders and grades. (2)to edit the “Scale of Subculture Identity”, which is applicable to junior high school students, that will enable us to understand the relationships between subculture identity and self-harm tendency. (3)to explore the differences, relationship and predictability between junior high school students’ personal trait, interpersonal relationship, subculture identity, and self-harm tendency. Adapted questionnaire research method, the samples consisted of 1,876 students who are studying in Taipei City, and the “Scale of Personal Trait”, “Scale of Interpersonal Relationship”, “Scale of Subculture Identity”, and the “Scale of Self-harm Tendency” will be utilized as researching tools. Gathered data will be processed statistically with “factor analysis”, “reliability analysis”, “one-way MANOVA”, “Pearson product-moment correlation”, and “the stepwise regression procedure”. The main findings were as follow: 1.The self-harm tendency of junior high school students was significantly different with genders and grades. 2.The self-harm tendency of junior high school students was significantly different with personal trait. 3.The self-harm tendency of junior high school students was significantly different with interpersonal relationship. 4.The self-harm tendency of junior high school students was significantly different with subculture identity. 3.The significant relationship was presented between personal trait, interpersonal relationship, subculture identity, and self-harm tendency. And 51.6 percent of variations of the self-harm tendency of junior high school students could be effectively predicted by personal trait, interpersonal relationship, and subculture identity.
