Abstract
This study aims to explore how painting can serve as a therapeutic process, utilizing artistic expression to achieve self-understanding and emotional release. In the face of the pressures and challenges of modern life, artistic creation has become an effective avenue for self-exploration and emotional relief. The study begins by reviewing psychological theories related to healing, empathy, and symbolism, examining how art embodies emotions and memories, transforming them into a symbolic language rich with personal meaning. Through the lens of Eastern symbolic literature and psychological analysis, the research delves into the symbolic implications in artistic creation, offering an in-depth understanding of painting as an inner journey of self-healing.The thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter One introduces the research, including its motivations, objectives, scope, and limitations. Chapter Two focuses on understanding the impact of past experiences through psychology and exploring the application of these concepts in creative work. Chapter Three elaborates on the creative concepts and practices, integrating the self-healing philosophy into artistic expression, and detailing the creative process and material selection. Chapter Four provides an analysis of three series of artworks produced for this study: “In Between the Currents,” “Cats Are Everywhere,” and “Traces of Light.” Finally, Chapter Five concludes with reflections on years of creative practice and outlines aspirations for future endeavors. This study seeks to demonstrate, through systematic creation and self-reflection, how painting can serve as a method of psychological healing, offering new perspectives on emotional management and personal fulfillment.
