Abstract
This study explores the impact of employees’ perceptions of leaders’ humor failures on their creativity and examines the mediating effect of Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) between leaders’ humor failures and employees’ creativity. Additionally, it investigates the moderating effect of interpersonal harmony on the relationship between leaders’ humor failure and employees’ creativity, as well as on the mediating effect of LMX. The research employs an online survey method, collecting data from employed workers at two-time points. A total of 409 questionnaires were initially retrieved, with 371 valid responses after excluding invalid ones, resulting in a valid response rate of 90.7%. The finding reveals that: (1) Leader-failed humor have a negative relationship with LMX; (2) LMX is positively related to employees’ creativity; (3) LMX mediates the negative relationship between leader-failed humor and employees’ creativity;(4) The moderating effect and moderated mediation effect of Interpersonal Harmony were not found to be significant.
