隱喻手法在互動式介面設計之研究-「介面症候群」創作

Abstract

隱喻手法廣泛的被應用在生活中，從語言、建築、服飾、器具、宗教儀式、標誌…等，無所不在。對設計師來說，隱喻更是一項重要的方法，不僅能幫助設計初期的概念發想，也能使設計成果更有趣味。本研究利用實踐導向的行動研究法，在「計劃行動觀察反思」的步驟中逐步歸納出適用於介面的隱喻設計手法，並將研究結果應用於系列性設計創作中，藉以獲得檢核與印證。

在理論與方法的分析階段，提出將隱喻主體轉換為另一隱喻客體的方法：先將隱喻主體概念之結構與情境轉換為一句清楚的敘述文字，在文法結構不變的情形之下，將另一個概念相似的隱喻客體之相對應字詞逐一置換，使兩者具有關係與特徵上的相似性。這個流程能幫助介面設計師在設計初期找出需要被視覺化的物件，並且藉由句法結構的框架，將物件之間的相對關係釐清，有助於更快速、有效率的進行隱喻設計。

在設計方法應用階段中，研究者以本身對網路現象的觀察與使用體驗衍生出以「介面症候群」為題，五個不同系列的互動性創作，希望使用者在透過介面與程式互動的同時，體會創作者對介面現況的諷刺寓意。

本設計研究結果提出以一個隱喻理論為基礎所衍生出的介面設計方法，透過創作證驗其在設計實作上的適用性，希望對於介面設計的理論與實作有所助益。

Metaphor is extensively used in daily life. Its ubiquity can be found in language, architecture, clothing, instruments, signs and religious rituals, etc. For a designer in particular, metaphor is an important approach for conceptual development of a design, as well as enriching the presentation of the creative work. This study utilizes practice-oriented action research method and concludes step by step a metaphorical approach for interface design through the sequence of “planactionobservationretrospection.” The result is then applied in a series of design works, to verify its feasibility.

In the stage of theoretical and methodological analysis, this research proposes a means to transform one metaphorical object into another metaphorical subject: Crystallize the structure and scenario of the metaphorical object into a clear literal description. Based on the premise of an invariable grammatical structure, equivalent characters of another metaphorical subject with identical concept are replaced one after another. The metaphorical object and subject therefore possess similarities in relation and characteristics. This process helps interface designer identify elements that need to be visualized at the initial stage of a design. Using the framework of a syntactic structure to clarify the relativity of objects can also enhance the velocity and efficiency of metaphorical designs.

In the stage of design method applications, the researcher extends personal experience and observation of Internet phenomena into an interactive design of five distinctive series, with the central idea of “interface syndrome.” The idea is to allow users to interact with the program via the interface and to realize the critical implications the researcher holds towards the condition of current interface designs.

The research proposes an interface design method derived from the metaphor theories. Verifying it feasibility in design operation through design activities, it can hopefully contribute to the theoretical and practical development of interface design.
