簡約形態表現手法之創作研究—以圖文插畫繪本為例

Abstract
簡約主義(Minimalism)對於現代設計所帶來的影響涵蓋了形式表現、思維觀念、價值角度、甚至生活觀;本研究旨在針對簡約主義(Minimalism)的理論脈絡和簡約主義在現代藝術及設計相關領域的呈現,以文獻資料分析及個案分析作一廣度的探討。並以羅蘭巴特的符號學作為鋪陳,在歷經現代與後現代社會基礎之下發展出不同風貌的簡約;企圖以另一客觀角度理解簡約主義的思維。在簡約主義之定義中所提及之論點;分別以海報設計、網頁設計、包裝設計、標誌設計及插畫繪本之平面圖像表現逐一探討與簡約風格的應用關係。本創作研究以圖文插畫繪本形式作為作品架構,繪圖的表現手法以簡約風格展現,藉著主角的移動彰顯思考本質沉靜的意義,把繪畫語言削減至僅僅是色與形的關係,用極少的色彩和極少的形象去簡化畫面,摒棄一切干擾主體的不必要的東西;作為一種生活方式或風格,用大家耳熟能詳的童話---灰姑娘故事,加以有趣的改編;在熟悉的基礎下建立一種簡約的生活觀。研究結果發現簡約概念超越了地域及不同文化,在思想上雖不涉及個人情感,卻非常個人化;回到人文思考上的目的不是空無,而是回歸本質。將簡約主義的觀念於平面表現分類時利用形態線條或色彩製造出空間感或畫面張力。運用簡單的形式,顛覆傳統的價值判斷。而簡約的概念是具邏輯概念下模組化的設計。最後將簡約主義的思維在平面設計的影響歸納出「回歸」「刪去」「反思」三種角度。在簡約風格的基礎架構之下,從時間的角度在平面的表現形式進行圖像創作;以灰姑娘的改編童話作為故事架構,為了不讓午夜十二點的魔法消失,利用地域時差的法則設計故事主角歷經不同國家景象。綜合簡約風格以及時間元素在平面的表現形式,並將之運用於圖文插畫繪本創作之中。
The influences on modern design brought by the Minimalism contain form expression, ideas and concepts, viewpoint of value, and even the notion of living. The keynote of this research is trying to process a comprehensive discussion on the Minimalism’s theories, as well as the Minimalism’s expression in modern arts and the related fields of design. The Roland Barthes’ Elements of Semiology will be used as the main narration for realizing the thoughts of the Minimalism from a kind of objective point of view. Based on the demonstrations mentioned in “The Definition of Minimalism” within this thesis, this research will go through the relationship of application between the style of the Minimalism and these topics: poster design, web design, package design, trademark design, and the graphics in picture books. The practical work of this research will be in the form of picture book that combines text and graphics. The expression method of graphics part is fully handled with the minimal style. The essential and pure meaning of the thinking will be clearly illustrated by the moving of the main character in the graphics. The language of drawing will be simplified to a kind of relationship between colors and shapes. Any unnecessary object influencing the main object will be removed by the adoption of simplification accomplished by using few colors and shapes. As a method or style of living, a notion of living with the Minimalism will be crated on the basis of Cinderella -- one of the most famous fairy tales in the world that was revised in an amusing way and used as the main structure of the picture book. The conclusions of this research discovers that concept of the Minimalism surpasses the borders and cultures. It is not related to personal emotion, but it is indeed something individuated. The purpose to go back to the thoughts of humanity is not achieving any ideology, but returning the origin of human. Also, this research classifies the notion of the Minimalism in the field of graphics expression by generating the roomage and tension by using lines and colors, reversing the criterion of traditional value by using simple forms, and adapting the modular design with logical concepts. Therefore, thoughts of the Minimalism influence the graphics design will distinctly generate three “angles”: “Return”, “Deletion”, and “Introspection”. On the basis of minimal style, the practical work of this research keeps the form expression in general graphics design from the viewpoint of “time”, also with the structure of revised Cinderella: The main character travels from a place to another to keep the local time remain in the same day, therefore the enchantment may keep working because the midnight will never come. During the long journey, landscape of every place the main character travels will be introduced as graphics in minimal style. Combining the minimal style and the expression method of “time” in graphics, some visual rules are discovered, and then are used in the practical work of this research.
