Abstract
The problems associated with learning Chinese as a foreign language are not peculiar to Thailand but a global challenge. The present study adapted and designed teaching Chinese materials based on Charade. 30 students were selected to play “Charade”, questionnaire was conducted after the game. Data were tested by Pearson correlation coefficient correlation, t-test. Using the game “Charade” in Chinese Language learning, there is positive result in both the learning interest and learning value. Furthermore, with increase session and practice, there is no high level of learning anxiety. In a Chinese Language Center setting, the study also shows no significant difference in the student’s learning ability, regardless of gender, native language or residency, indicating Charade is a good approach to teach Mandarin for secondary language learning. The study therefore recommends that Chinese teachers in Thailand to use Charade approach to teaching fundamental level of Chinese Learning.
